Atmosphere and Compelling Composition in Landscape Painting

October 3 - 5

Tuition: $400

Skill level: all levels

Create paintings that engage your audience and hold their attention! In this three-day, hands-on teaching workshop, award-winning Eastern Washington artist Todd Telander will elucidate the principles of creating an oil painting with depth and atmosphere in the context of a well-planned composition.

Working with a limited palette, we will simplify the painting process to focus on deliberate design, focal points, effective shapes, color harmony, and creating an alluring three dimensional space on the canvas.

Mornings will include a presentation of the day’s artistic principles, followed by a
painting demonstration by Todd. After a lunch break, we will work from our own photographs in the studio, with individual critique and advice given along the way, setting you up for successful, carefully crafted, finished paintings!
